It loaded on my wife's computer the other night and she immediately unplugged it. I suppose Microsoft's reasoning is that they'll soon be abandoning their support and security patches for WIN 8.1 they way they did with XP.

Maybe Microsoft should be proactively going on the news themselves and giving real support to this changeover...

Good Reading, BrianMary Lee and Brianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04897634328821667800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-87346658710971385.post-21634029423640612362013-10-17T17:47:45.654-05:002013-10-17T17:47:45.654-05:00Well, I've never been to a Disney park, but I ...Well, I've never been to a Disney park, but I can testify to having traveled far, wide and deep when lost in a book.
Good comment on non-fiction, among those that have "captured" my mind was A Team of Rivals.Anamcharatashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06762979125832890370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-87346658710971385.post-89034640821906585572013-10-17T17:44:15.747-05:002013-10-17T17:44:15.747-05:00Well, I've never been to a Disney park, but I ...Well, I've never been to a Disney park, but I can testify to having traveled far, wide and deep when lost in a book. All that crap was genesis for what we have now and, unfortunately, Survivor et al survives. I think Mr. Akin is just the fool his insights into rape prove him to be.It happens on the other side, too (Mr. Obama letting slip his thoughts on a certain world leader), and in the celeb world. An actor who's been overlooked for awhile gains instant attention with an off the cuff, later retracted, remark.
We live in a mercilessly manipulative society. I believe "What I Meant to Says" are too often a manifestation of spin and not meant as a clarification at all.Doug M.Cummingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12273845184875910504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-87346658710971385.post-69372326642117681872011-12-16T07:40:44.847-06:002011-12-16T07:40:44.847-06:00I certainly feel the same way. Not only am I an author, I was also a sandwich generation-er in the traditional sense as well (my mom had Parkinson's and Alzheimer's and lived with my family and me the last three years of her life).

Yes, the publishing industry has greatly changed, and especially in terms of marketing--but like the rest of my life, I have to adjust. I have to communicate.

I heard a wonderful quote, that each time someone opens a book, they whisper, "Tell me about me."

We yearn to connect. To understand ourselves by understanding others. Whenever I've felt hurt or lost--I've turned to books.

Nice to meet you.
~Carol D.
